KARACHI: The sixth edition of Pakistan Super League has begun with a colourful ceremony at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday (today).
The opening match of the event will be played between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators.
Six teams including Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will contest for the trophy.
A total of thirty-four matches will be played among these teams. Twenty matches will be played in Karachi while fourteen matches will be played in Lahore.
The final of PSL-6 will be played at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 22.
The virtual opening ceremony kicked off with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani’s short address. He said the PSL had become the biggest sporting event of Pakistan.
“This could not have happened without support of the people and efforts of security forces,” he said.
Singer Atif Aslam sang two songs: Aadat and Rangon Mey. Dutch-Pakistani singer and song writer Imran Khan also sang a song, Bewafa, while accompanied by actress Humaima Malik.
Whereas, PSL 6 anthem ‘Groove Mera’ was sung by Aima Baig, Naseebo Lal and Young Stunners.
