An excessive amount of plastic has been found regularly on beaches, in parks, rivers and at other public places, as per the Break Free From Plastic movement in their annual audit. It is observed that most of them are of the Coca-Cola company than that of Nestle and after that PepsiCo.
Around 10 brands were concluded to be having a major part in increasing contamination out of which only three companies got their names on the top of the list as main cause of it. The survey among these brands shows a gradual increase throughout three years.
The data reveals 9,216 plastic were found in which share of PepsiCo and Nestle which was 5,750 and 2,950 respectively. It steadily increased in 2019 but the immediate increase of 13,834 Coca-Cola and 8,633 PepsiCo plastic indicated they were the main source of toxic waste, Nestle’s contribution has been slightly low.
Through the audit it is advised that such companies should find and attain techniques from which they can continue their supplies without being the cause of spreading pollution around the cities, as most of the plastic cannot be recycled. Hence the usage of plastic should be dropped down and turned out to be beneficial.
