ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) on Friday has approved government’s review petition over the case pertaining to extension of the service of Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to details, the plea has been allowed a number for initial hearing. However, it will be heard as per the directives of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).
It is pertinent to be mention here that the review petition has pleaded with the court to constitute a larger bench as well as to nullify the given judgement in the case.
It has further requested the court to conduct in-camera hearings of the matter.

Earlier on Thursday, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Farogh Naseem held a meeting with Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Anwar Mansoor Khan in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) for consultation before filing a review petition.
The Supreme Court, a month ago, had granted extension/reappointment of Gen Bajwa for another six months and asked the government to determine the tenure, terms and conditions of the service of the army chief through legislation within the period.
