COAS Gen Asim Munir arrives in Saudi Arabia on his first foreign visit

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday met Saudi Arabia’s Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and discussed strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the army chief arrived in Saudi Arabia this morning where he was received by Saudi Defence Minister.
At the outset of the meeting, Prince Khalid bin Salman felicitated General Asim Munir on his appointment as the Pakistan’s Army Chief.
According to the report, both leaders emphasised on the strength and sustainability of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia during the meeting.
They discussed important regional and international issues of common interest as well as ways to enhance military and defence cooperation.
Taking to Twitter, Prince Mohammed bin Salman said that he was pleased to meet the Army Chief of Pakistan.
“We emphasized the strategic partnership between our brotherly countries, reviewed the bilateral military and defense relations, and discussed ways of strengthening our cooperation,” Saudi Defence Minister said.
Notably, COAS Gen Asim is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) from January 4-10, announced the military’s media wing.
This is Gen Munir’s first official trip outside of Pakistan ever since he took charge as the army chief.
