COAS and DG ISI didn’t meet Imran Khan before ouster on April 9: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi: DG ISPR explained the story of BBC report on events that took place at the Prime Minister’s House on the night of Imran Khan’s ouster from power.
Addressing a press conference in Rawalpindi, Major General Babar Iftikhar said that on the night of April 9, the Army Chief and DG ISI had no meeting with the then Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Prime Minister’s House.
“Everything narrated in BBC Urdu’s story was completely fabricated and nothing but a pack of lies.” DG ISPR said.
In response to a question, Major General Babar Iftikhar said that he had no information about the meeting of two senior officials in the President’s Chamber in the Parliament House.
He further said that Imran Khan was not given any option by the Establishment. During the deadlock, the Prime Minister’s Office contacted the Chief of Army Staff to play a role of mediation. The leadership of our political parties was not ready to talk to each other but the Army Chief and the DG ISI went there, sat down with different political leaders and discussed three things that could happen, including the resignation of the Prime Minister, the withdrawal of the no-confidence motion and the option of dissolving the assemblies by the Prime Minister.
The DG ISPR said that on the third option, the Prime Minister said that it is acceptable, talk to the opposition on our behalf. There was a lively discussion but the opposition said that we will not take such a step.
