CM Murad directs Sindh Rangers to accelerate target operation in Karachi
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed Pakistan Rangers Sindh to expedite the ongoing target operation in Karachi.
He said this during a meeting with Director-General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry at the Chief Minister House in Karachi.
During the meeting, the matters of law and order situation and ongoing targeted operation were discussed.
On May 27, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed had said the governments of Sindh and federation had decided to jointly eradicate dacoits from katcha areas of Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
“Strict action would be taken against any influential person who would be found involved with them,” Sheikh Rasheed had said while addressing media in Karachi after meeting with CM Murad.
He had said the cases against robbers, involved in extortion, abduction and murder, would be filed under Terrorism Act and speedy trials would be conducted against them.
“Rangers would provide as much weapons to Sindh police as required and is also ready to serve as a backup for Sindh police in the operation in Katcha areas,” he had maintained.
The interior minister had said any kind of weapon including drones would be provided on the provincial government’s request. It was prerogative of the Sindh government to use Rangers wherever it needed, he had said adding that maintaining peace was the joint aim of the federation and province.
