 Cleaning of 22 storm drains in Karachi starts on an emergency basis

NDMA has started cleaning 22 of Karachi’s 38 major drains on an emergency basis.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, there are 552 small and big storm drains in the city out of which cleaning of 22 out of 38 major drains has been started on an emergency basis while 19 drains have been taken over by the Sindh government.

FWO is working on Gujar Nala, Korangi Nala, and Mowach Goth Nala and its 14 teams are cleaning the drains. There are a total of 21 choked points on the three major canals.

The spokesman said that the FWO was cleaning the drains on a 24-hour basis. The teams removed 4,364 tonnes of garbage from the drains yesterday.
