Cinemas expected to open from March 2021

A range of blockbuster films was planned for release in 2020 which was going to be a big step towards the revival of our film industry. Unfortunately, the wave of novel coronavirus had invaded the world, and almost every single industry suffered a huge loss. While one medium of the entertainment industry made a huge profit, the other was met with a big loss.

Cinemas all over the world are going under major loss due to the pandemic. Films have relied upon OTT platforms for their releases this year as it has become the most fetched for media this year. Pakistani cinema, which was not making much profit after the ban of Indian films merely got any profits have gone into complete loss after shutting off.

According to a private cinema employee, Pakistani cinemas have gone into 100 percent loss and employees have been given a furlough and a permit to work for other companies until the cinema opens.

Upon being asked the HR officer said “Cinemas are expected to open till March 2021, this also depends on whether films are ready to release”. He added “The international releases and Pakistani releases have been postponed and as Government has banned all indoor activities, if we turn towards outdoor cinema it will not be enough for our electrical expenses only”.

It has been a tough year for every industry but our fil industry is already on the rocks so do support it when it reopens its gates or public’s entertainment.
