Chinese, Russian, Korean companies show interest in running Pakistan Steel Mills

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Privatization Mohammad Mian Soomro and Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar chaired a meeting to discuss the progress in restoration of the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).

According to a statement by the privatization ministry, 12 international companies from China, Russia and Korea had shown keen interest in making the steel mill operational and representatives of six companies had so far visited the mill.

However, while conversing about approved transaction structure the minister spoke that the government is determined to resolve the issues so that transaction can be completed on time.

“We must strictly follow the timeline and complete the task in the defined period,” said Soomro.

On the contrary, the meeting also discussed the matters related to jetty and registration of a new subsidiary.
