 Chinese President describes PM Shehbaz as ‘person of pragmatism and efficiency’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of State (CHS), where counterpart has described him as a person of pragmatism and efficiency.

All aspects of bilateral relations were reviewed in the meeting between the two leaders, important regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed in the meeting.

In his welcoming remarks, the Chinese President Xi Jinping described Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as ‘a person of pragmatism and efficiency and a leader with a longstanding commitment to China-Pakistan friendship’.

This was Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s first meeting with the Chinese President since assuming office.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries in which various issues including bilateral relations were discussed.

In the meeting, Turkey and Pakistan agreed to work on the gas supply project from Russia to Pakistan and also agreed on the possibilities and implementation of long-term projects including the promotion of bilateral trade.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he considers Pakistan as his priority partner in Asia, adding that, the relations between the two countries are developing in a very positive way.

“We are very happy about the development of relations between the two countries,” Erdogan said.

Notably, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was in Samarkand city of Uzbekistan to attend the annual meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Council of Heads of State (CHS), where climate change was on the agenda.

Later, he visited Hazrat Khizar complex and Tomb of former President of the Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov in Samarkand.

On the other hand, PTI Senior leader and former federal minister Shireen Mazari lambasted at federal government’s officials for not noting down the minutes from the meeting between PM Shehbaz and President Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
