Chehlum processions being observed across Pakistan today amid strict security
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his martyred companions is being observed today (Saturday) across the country with religious zeal and respect to remember the great sacrifice in the history of Islam.
On the occasion, the mourning processions will be taken out in various cities and towns across the country to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.
Police and personnel from law enforcement agencies have taken foolproof security measures. Barricades have been placed on streets and roads along the processions route to avoid any untoward situation.
Pillion riding banned
The provincial governments have decided to impose a ban on pillion riding on September 17 to ensure security and prevent untoward situations ahead of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
All schools and other educational institutions in Sindh are closed today too.
The main procession will come out from Nishtar Park to end at Hussainiya Irania Imambargah Kharadar while moving through its traditional routes.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala is observed each year on 20th Safar-ul-Muzaffar.
