A motorway inspector and his wife were killed on Friday after unknown men opened fire on their car on Mianwali Road at Chakwal, police said.

The couple were traveling from Chakri to their hometown of Chakrala. Nasir Malik when they were attack by the unidentified men. Malik passed away with his wife on the spot.

“It is suspected that the attackers were old enemies of the inspector,” a police officer said.

The bodies were subsequently transferred to THQ Talagang Hospital. A case has been registered, and the suspects are being searched for by police.
