Centre directs for reviving PSM oxygen plant

KARACHI: After demands from people on social media, the federal government has directed to revive oxygen plant of the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) in a bid to meet the shortage amid the third wave of coronavirus.
A technical team has arrived at the PSM to inspect the oxygen gas plant and find out possibility of its revival. The plant had gone defunct in 2015.
PSM Chief Executive Officer Shuja Hassan has claimed that the plant would be brought to life very soon. The parts required in the plant would be installed and Pakistan Army engineers would help in this process, he maintained.
Experts believe that the PSM plant has the capacity to produce 50,000 cylinders of oxygen on a daily basis. However, the main problem would be availability of its parts.
