The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be meeting today for the moon sighting of Zil Hajj 1442 AH.
Meeting will be held at Met complex of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairperson Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad has arrived Karachi from Islamabad to chair the meeting.
According to the details, the information regarding the sighting of the crescent moon will be passed on to Maulana Azad on his mobile no 0321-9410041, DG (R&R), Ministry of Religious Affairs Syed Mushahid Hussain Khalid’s mobile 0300-6831822 and Director (R&R) Hafiz Abdul Qudoos’ mobile 0333-2697051.
On Friday, Director Space Sciences, University of Karachi, Professor Javed Iqbal said that there was no chance of sighting of Zul Hijjah moon on Saturday in Pakistan.
In a statement, Prof Javed Iqbal said that it would be 13 hours to birth of the moon at the time of Maghrib on July 10 and sighting a moon of this age through naked eye was impossible. So, Zul Hijjah moon would clearly be sighted on July 11, he maintained.
Therefore, first Zil Haj will likely fall on Monday, July 12, 2021, while Eidul Adha will likely be observed on July 21 (Wednesday).
