Adviser to PM Imran Khan said on Tuesday that the Central Board of Film Censors has decided to contact Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) will conduct a “critical review” of Zindagi Tamasha, a Sarmad Khoosat film.
Firdous Awan tweeted on her official account that the film’s producers were instructed to postpone the movie’s release.
Government’s decision came after Punjab and Sindh’s censor board stopped the release of the movie on the scheduled date.
The Punjab censor board issued a notification which stated that the film will be reviewed again because of “persistent complaints received from different quarters”.
Zindagi Tamasha will be re-examined in Punjab at 3:00 pm on 3rd February. Khoosat has been directed not to release the film till a final decision is made by the Punjab censor board.
Likewise, the Sindh Board of Censor said in a statement that the film could cause “unrest” within some society’s segments and “may deteriorate and be detrimental to the peaceful circumstances in the country”.
In order to avoid such a situation, the board decided not to release the film till further notice, the statement read.
