Case lodged against three police officials for killing viral ATM breaker

RAHIM YAR KHAN: The father of the man, who went viral after his video of breaking an ATM machine to recover his card went viral on social media, Muhammad Afzaal has lodged a case against three policemen for killing his “mentally challenged” son.
Station House Officer Mehmoodul Hassan and investigation officers Sub-Inspector Shafaat Ali and Assistant Sub-Inspector Matloob Hussain have been nominated in the FIR for allegedly torturing the victim to death.
Father of the deceased said he had tattooed name and address on his son Salahuddin Ayubi’s arm for his identification, but the police did not contact him until he knew about his death from the media.
Afzaal said his son was intellectually disabled and was not in touch with him for quite a while.
He said that police had conducted Ayubi’s post-mortem without informing the family.
The suspect had died in police custody. Salahduddin was a resident of Gujrat’s Kamonkey district and was arrested from Rahim Yar Khan from an ATM booth after attempting another robbery.
Police claim that Salahuddin had been suffering from a health ailment earlier and died from a heart attack. An inquiry into the cause of his death has been ordered by the District Police Officer.
