ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered to take up the matter of severing diplomatic relations with France before the federal cabinet.
A plea to sever diplomatic ties with France was heard on Wednesday, October 28.
Petitioner’s lawyer Tariq Asad told the court that other Muslim countries, including Turkey and Qatar, had protested against the publication of the French sketches. The biggest issue is that, that the French president himself asked to hang sketches on two buildings.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that the government of Pakistan had condemned it and had also summoned the French ambassador. In addition, a resolution has been passed by the National Assembly.
The court ordered the cabinet to take a decision based on public sentiment.
The request was made by a citizen. The court disposed of the case by sending the matter to the federal cabinet.
