ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday reshuffled the federal cabinet giving Khusru Bakhtiyar and Hammad Azhar new portfolios and accepting resignation of Muttahida Qaumi Movemement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui as federal minister.
Makhdoom Khusru Bakhtiyar has been given the portfolio of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs taking back charge of the Ministry of National Food Security from him days after his name surfaced as a major beneficiary in an investigation report into recent sugar crisis.
Bakhtiyar has replaced Hammad Azhar who has now been made Federal Minister for Industries.
A report released by the Federal Investigation Agency few days ago claimed that top PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and Bakhtiar’s brother were among those who benefitted from sugar crisis in Pakistan.
He tendered his resignation saying that he did not want a conflict of interest.

Syed Fakhar Imam has been made Federal Minister for National Food Security. Azam Sawati has been made given the portfolio of Federal Minister for Narcotics Control. Babar Awan has been appointed as Advisor for Parliamentary Affairs, while Mohammad Shahzad Akbar has been removed as advisor to the PM.
Amin ul Haq has been appointed as Federal Minister for Telecom. Hashim Popalzai removed as Secretary Ministry of National Food Security & Research, while Omar Hameed transferred and appointed as Secretary Ministry of National Food Security.
