Bureaucrats scared of accountability, says Sheikh Rasheed

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed on Thursday said bureaucrats were not working as they were scared of accountability.

“They all have been working for Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, but they have left working for Imran Khan,” Sheikh Rasheed said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.

His ministry had reduced deficit of 4 billion rupees and increased 8,000,000 passengers, he said adding that Railways earned 10 billion rupees profit. He said trains would be run on time from September 15.

On Kashmir dispute, Sheikh Rasheed said Prime Minister Imran Khan fought Kashmir case very well. Every child of Pakistan stood with Kashmir, he added.

“All doors of talks closed with India. India cannot dare to cast an evil eye towards our border. History will decide Narendra Modi has got himself stuck in a quandary,” he said.

He said Imran Khan’s decision on Kashmir was the same as of Kashmiris.

To a query, the minister said the prime minister will complete his tenure. He said Maryam Nawaz had ruined the politics of the Pakistan Muslim League-N.

Imran Khan on Thursday said the Indian occupational forces were denying residents of occupied Kashmir right to observe their religious practices.

In a tweet, he said, “Today, on the 1st International Day for Victims of Violence based on Religion or Belief, we call attention to the plight of millions of Kashmiris living under brutal Indian Occupation, abuse and violence, deprived of all fundamental rights and freedoms.”

He said the Indian occupational forces had even denied them their right to observe their religious practices, including Eid ul Azha.
