A Bulgarian climber died during an expedition on Pakistan’s K2 on Friday, he has been the  second person who has died in weeks.

The Seven Summit Treks who arranged the expedition said that Atanas Skatov died while changing ropes to descend to the basecamps.

The body was later recovered and shifted by a Pakistani military helicopter to the nearby city of Skardu.

Moreover, Skatov has been the second person who has died on K2. Last month a Spanish climber died during his expedition on the same mountain.

The Bulgarian Foreign Ministery said “We pay homage to the strength and spirit of our climber — his feat and his relentless will to (reach) the top will never be forgotten!”
