“Game changer” Covid-19 pill developed by Merck has been approved by Britain on Thursday (today) which makes Britain the first country to approve the antiviral pill which can be swallowed by patients.
Within the first five days of the symptoms of Covid-19 and positive tests outcome, The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) endorse consuming the antiviral pill “Molnupiravir”.
Britain becomes the first country to approve the oral pills for the treatment of Covid-19 even before the approval from the United States department FDA. Reports are that FDA will schedule a meeting within a month to decide whether to approve the pill or not.
Earlier in October, a multinational pharmaceutical company, Merck, in the US, had developed a pill to treat the patients of Covid-19, results of which were described as excellent and groundbreaking.
According to the German website “DW“, medical experts have described the new drug as a surprising and important development. The pill was developed in the laboratory of the American pharmaceutical company named Merck.
Medical experts say that this medicine can actually be used as a cure for this disease. This medicine will be available in pill form and can be used to save lives.
Merck’s drug is named “Molnupiravir.” This is a significant development as it is the first drug to control the coronavirus, which can be swallowed by the patient.
Merck Pharmaceuticals is also collaborating with another biological company, Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, to develop the drug.
