A 17-year-old’s body was discovered on Sunday at a vacant plot in Khairabad at Karachi’s Orangi, police said.
Owais was a Zia Colony resident, and a first-year Intermediate student. He had been missing since 2 March.
According to police, he wanted to marry the girl of his choosing for which he had purchased a charm (taveez) for Rs500 from a transgender person.
“When the charm didn’t work, Owais asked them to return his money,” a police officer said. “Their argument turned into a fight after which the transgender person and two men killed Owais,” he said.
The perpetrators had been Owais’s friends, police said.
After a post mortem examination the body was given to the family. A case has been registered, and the suspects are being searched for by police.
