QUETTA: At least 15 people were killed and 21 others injured in a blast inside a mosque in Quetta’s Satellite Town on Friday, said health officials.
Rescue members transferred bodies and the injured to the Civil Hospital in the city. A hospital spokesperson said they had collected 15 victims ‘ bodies.
Inspector general of Balochistan Amjad Butt had initially put the death toll at 10. The area was surrounded by security forces and Bomb Disposal Squad was summoned to sweep the site.
The cause of the explosion, however, had yet to be determined.
This week, Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s largest province in Balochistan, was hit twice by terrorist attacks.
The blast on Friday came two days after an attack by a roadside bomb that killed two people and wounded 18 others.
The remote-controlled explosion targeted a Frontier Corps vehicle.
