Blast at madrassa kills at least 7 children, injures 96 in Peshawar

A blast at a madrassa on Kohat Road in Dir Colony, Peshawar, on Tuesday, killed at least 7 and injured around 96 others, including children.
According to police, the nature of the blast is being ascertained. Among the injured are a large number of children. The injured have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment.

According to rescue teams, the blast took place near the madrassa which is inside a mosque. A large number of children were present at the madrassa at the time of the blast. The blast blew up windows and doors of the madrassa and mosque.


More than 20 injured children have been shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. According to hospital sources, the condition of some children is critical. An emergency has been declared at the hospital following the blast.
Police and other law enforcement agencies sealed off the area. It is also worth mentioning here that this madrassa is a famous madrassa of the city, where more than 100 children come at the same time to get Islamic education and study here till 7 pm.


About 40 to 50 people were present at the time of the blast. Earlier someone with explosives came and placed it inside the madrassa. SP City Waqar Azeem while talking to Samaa confirmed that 4 people were killed and 25 injured in the blast which includes a large number of children.
