Bilawal ‘re-elected’ as PPP chairman for next 4 years

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been “re-elected” as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman for another term of four years including all the central office-bearers of the party as a result of fresh intra-party election.

In accordance with Constitution of the PPP and the country’s Elections Act 2017, the intra-party election was held on 6th januray.

The results were announced by the election commissioner, Fauzia Habib, which revealed that Bilawal Bhutto had been re-elected for next four years.

Moreover, Faisal Karim Kundi was elected as secretary information and Rukhsana Bungash as finance secretary. Whereas, Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari as the PPP general secretary.

According to the PPP secretary general, Nayyar Bukhari, the intra-party elections were due under Article 208 of the party’s constisitution after the elections in 2017.

Government’s reaction

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shibli Faraz took a jibe at Bilawal B. Zardari on Twitter.

“Congratulations to Bilawal for being a ‘Selected’ chairman,” the minister wrote on Twitter.
