Bill Gates phones Gen Qamar, praises Pak Army’s role in eradication drive
Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has appreciated the help of the Pakistan Army in the anti-polio campaign through security provision, monitoring, and bridging capacity gaps.
During a telephone conversation with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, he shared those views in the context of Pakistan’s polio eradication campaign.
Given COVID-19, the army chief said Pakistan Army has already made plans to restart the anti-polio campaign in the country in the coming weeks in support of government efforts.
He said it is a national responsibility, and the Pakistan Army plays a part in important provincial government and health care initiatives.
