Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam)’s leader Moonis Elahi has rejected the reports that PML-Q has refused to support PDM’s candidate for Senate chairman after Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Chaudhry brothers at their house.
“Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did not ask for support in senate and nor did we offer. He came to inquire about Shujat Sb’s health for which we are grateful,” Elahi wrote on Twitter as he shared a picture of newspaper, rejecting the report.
Pakistan People Party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along a delegation of opposition met with the PML-Q leaders on Sunday.
The PPP’s official Twitter account also clearly stated that the party’s chairman was there to inquire about the health of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
The election for the top offices of the Senate’s chairman and deputy chairman will be held through secret balloting on March 12.
Both the opposition and the government have fielded their candidates for the crucial election in the Senate where the opposition alliance has slightly more seats than the government coalition.
The incumbent chairman Sadiq Sanjrani is the candidate for PTI-led government while PDM has nominated former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani a joint opposition candidate.
Furthermore, PML-Q is a part of government’s alliance in Center and Punjab.
