Big blow for Pakistan as Fakhar Zaman ruled out of must-win match against South Africa

Pakistani squad has suffered another big blow ahead of the must-win match against South Africa as power hitter batsman Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out from the next fixture of T20 World Cup.

The Pakistan team doctor and PCB’s chief medical officer Dr Najeeb Soomro told that Fakhar Zaman has a knee injury due to which he will not be available for the most important clash against South Africa tomorrow.

“I will not take too much risk on Fakhar Zaman, the medical panel is looking at his injury seriously,” he added.

Soomro said that, “in any sport you take risks, sometimes the risks pay off, sometimes they don’t. He was extremely brave and we worked hard to bring him back in, it is unfortunate that sometimes you have a bit of a reaction to something.”

Following the Fakhar Zaman’s blow, Pakistan’s right-handed batsman Mohammad Haris is likely to replace power-hitter Fakhar Zaman in a must-win clash against South Africa in T20 World Cup 2022.

Mohammad Haris is in the list of reserve players of T20 World Cup.

Sources said that, the team management will request a replacement player for Fakhar Zaman from the ICC technical committee after further consultation.

Notably, Pakistan will face South Africa in the must-win match of the Super 12 stage in Sydney, Australia.
