BHC orders to quash sedition case against Shahbaz Gill in Balochistan

The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Thursday ordered to quash sedition case registered against PTI leader Shahbaz Gill for his controversial remarks against state institutions.
BHC Judge Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch heard the petition for the quashing of the case registered against Shahbaz Gill for his statement against institutions.
During the proceeding, the court remarked that such cases are a mockery of the Constitution and court and the entity being targeted must file the case itself.
An FIR was registered against Shahbaz Gill in Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district on November 28 for his alleged controversial remarks against state institution in PTI’s public gathering.
Earlier, PTI chairman Imran Khan’s ex-chief of staff was detained by the Islamabad Police on August 9 on charges of sedition and inciting people against state institutions after he made a controversial statement on the private news channel.
On August 9, the police arrested Shahbaz Gill from the federal capital in a sedition case.
A case of sedition has been registered against Shehbaz Gill in Islamabad’s Kohsar police station on the complaint of the city magistrate.
PTI leader had sought post-arrest bail saying that he was subjected to torture.
Adiala Jail officials and PIMS medical board confirmed that Gill was subjected to torture, the petition said adding that Gill must be released from prison until the court give a final judgment in the sedition case.
On September 14, the Islamabad High Court granted bail to Shahbaz Gill against surety bonds worth Rs500,000.
