Beware Karachiites! Another spell of monsoon rains to hit city on Aug 16
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted more rains for Sindh, including Karachi from August 16 (Tuesday) as another “low pressure area” is expected to approach the province in the next couple of days.
Under the influence of this new monsoon system, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Qamber Shahdadkot, Tharparkar, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Tando Muhammad Khan, Sajawal and Sanghar districts thundershower are expected today, while, moderate to heavy rain at few places expected tomorrow.
Light and heavy rains are also predicted by PMD in Karachi from August 16.
The Meteorological Department further said that the rains in these districts of Sindh between August 16 and 18 may be widespread and more intense.
According to the Meteorological Department, the districts where water may accumulate in the low-lying areas due to heavy rains are Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, Umarkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Jamshoro, Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana and Sukkur.
It was further informed that continuous heavy rains in Khuzdar, Lasbela and Hub districts of Balochistan may create additional pressure on Hub Dam, Thado Dam and rivers.
The Meteorological Department has warned fishermen that rough seas may persist till Monday evening, so take extra care when venturing into the deep sea.
Notably, the Meteorological Department had said on August 11 that the monsoon season has not ended yet and a new series of heavy rains will begin across the country in August.
