Bella Hadid says she’s willing to lose her job as model to support Palestine
American-Palestinian model Bella Hadid said that she is willing to lose all her jobs in the world of modelling to wholeheartedly support Palestine.
She has been vocal about Palestine on Instagram and has expressed her support for the Palestinian people at numerous pro-Palestine protests. Previously, she has lost a lot of professional opportunities because of her views.
Recently, while talking with GQ Magazine, Bella Hadid said she is ready to accept professional losses but will continue to raise her voice for the people of Palestine. Hadid reflected on her early years growing up in Santa Barbara, far from a Muslim community, and said she felt “never able to see myself in anything” and that she felt “isolated from my Palestinian roots.”
The model stated, “For so long, I was missing that part of me, and it made me really, really sad and lonely. I would have loved to grow up and be with my dad every day, studying and really being able to practice, just in general being able to live in a Muslim culture. But I wasn’t given that”.
She also mentioned her point of why she keeps speaking in favour of Palestinians. “I speak about [Palestine] for the elderly that are still living there that have never been able to see Palestine free, and for the children that can still grow up and have a beautiful life”.
Bella said that she has realised ‘I’m not on this earth to be a model’. she concluded, “I’m so lucky and blessed that I’m in a position where I can speak out the way that I do. And really, the downfall is what? That I lose my job?”
