Baton-wielding force to protect tourists in Murree

MURREE: The administration of Rawalpindi has formed a baton-wielding force to protect tourists in Murree.

A control room has been set up and over 50 officers of the civil defence force have been deployed. The force has been formed in a bid to protect tourists from mistreatment of local shopkeepers, hotel owners and their workers.

Scores of videos have been shared on social media of mistreatment of tourists by local people of Murree.

Civil Defence District Officer Talib Hussain said they used to receive complaints from tourists. He said the force was deployed so that tourists could enjoy their recreational time.

Talib Hussain said that a case will be lodged against the culprit who would be involved in misbehaving with tourists. He apprised that such cases were registered against perpetrators who were involved in manhandling visitors.

A tourist said that the situation had much improved since deployment of the force and they could enjoy their visit peacefully.
