“Balance between religion and life”, says Mufti Menk when a follower calls him out for having fun
Mufti Menk humbly replied to a follower who called him out for having fun as a religious scholar.
Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Ismail Menk recently posted a picture while enjoying water sports in London with his family. He posted a picture of himself aboard a motorboat on his Facebook account.
One of the internet users called him out for wasting time on fun activities instead of giving more time to the Ummah. Mufti preached in his humble way that how the right way to live is to draw a balance between life and religion.
While replying Mufti wrote, “real sheikhs wouldn’t ever see your comment on social media either and take the time to reply. A few minutes spent every year doesn’t determine the genuineness or not of a person”.
He then gave a beautiful example of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and further wrote, “Rasulallah (Prophet Muhammad) also engaged in many recreative activities with his family. We must be balanced. Our children and family members have a right over us. Concern for the Ummah is only possible if you have concern for your own family first”.
After his statement, people lauded him for preaching moderation and keeping up with worldly activities while practicing religion.
