The messaging app, WhatsApp has suspended its new policy of sharing the user’s data with Facebook for three months after receiving the backlash and witnessing users switching to different apps.
According to a tweet by WhatsApp, they thanked each individual for reaching out to them and they cleared the privacy concerns of the users saying, ‘the policy doesn’t affect the privacy of anyone’.
On addressing the rumors, WhatsApp assured protecting the users privacy and revealed that “No one will have their account suspended or deleted on Feb 8 and we’ll be moving back our business plans until after May.”
The suspension implemented to provide the users plenty of time to review and understand the terms and to be assured that whatsapp never planned to delete any accounts based on this and will not do so in the future.
On the contrary, more than 2 billion users criticised and back lashed the new policy, whereas many users deleted their accounts and shifted to different apps.
