KARACHI: Fiery batting by Pakistan T20I skipper Babar Azam and Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim helped the Pakistan Super League franchise team register their first PSL 2020 victory in a nail-biting match against Peshawar Zalmi here at Karachi National Stadium on Friday.
Their quick fifties with the help of five 6s and ten 4s turn the game in their favor by accumulating their biggest total in all the editions so far, 201.
Sharjeel Khan and Cameron Delport could not stay longer as they were dismissed for 19 and 20 shortly after taking to the pitch. While, Babar Azam (78 0ff 56) kept the scoreboard moving. He was later joined by Imad Wasim (50 off 30).
Peshawar Zalmi’s Hassan Ali took two wickets in four overs at the cost of 52 runs. While, Mohammed Mohsin got only one scalp in four overs off 35 runs.
Liam Livingstone’s unbeaten 54 off 29 could not save Zalmi from sinking. Opening of Peshawar Zalmi was apparently little steady until Tom Banton came off at 13 from 13 balls. Then they saw crumbling of a couple of more wickets in quick succession as Haider Ali was bowled out by Jordan for 4 off 3 and Shoaib Malik was gone for 16 off 12. Then, Kamran Akmal was bowled out for 43 off 26.
Darren Sammy’s explosive 30 off 20 had drastically reduced the score difference as in last one over they required 16 only, which they could not make.
