PESHAWAR: Railway minister, Sheikh Rasheed, says Azakhel Dry Port project in Nowshera would help promote Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s business and trade activities.
Addressing a news conference in Peshawar, he said it was the long-standing demand of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s business community that was fulfilled in line with their expectations by the current elected government.
He said the federal government has planned mega-projects to strengthen and enhance railway connectivity in KP, adding mega-project Peshawar-Jalalabad would connect Pakistan with Afghanistan and Central Asian republics in addition to making KP a hub for trade, business and investment.
Sheikh Rasheed said the government also decided to open the Nowshera-Dargai railway section in Malakand Division to help promote tourism.
To a question about amendments to NAB law, the Minister said the accountability process would continue and this process would get new impetus after March.
He said the economic situation was improving in the country and price hike will be diminished in the next three years.
The minister said maximum relief was provided to senior citizens in the railway fare, adding a senior citizen aged 65 would pay half ticket and would get free travel facilities for up to 75 years for four times.
