Austria man keeps mother’s dead body to receive pension
AUSTRIA: A man kept his mother’s mummified corpse in a basement for over a year to receive her pension payments, in Austria.
According to the Austrian police, the man aged 66 put his mother’s body in his house basement and used ice packs and bandages to control the mask.
His mother was covered with cat litter and her body was mummified, revealed the officer Helmuth Gufler.
The culprit have illegally received about €50,000 (£42,000) in payments during this time period.
The suspected fraud only came to light after a new postman delivering his mother’s pension was refused a request to meet her, police said in a statement.
However, the man has confessed his crime and said that the payments would have stopped immediately if he had reported the death, leaving him unable to afford to pay for his mother’s funeral or to keep the house they had shared.

The suspect also said he had told his brother that their mother was receiving care at a hospital, and that it was not worth visiting as her condition meant it was unlikely she would recognise him, ORF reported.
Moreover, the 89-year-old woman, who reportedly had dementia, is thought to have died of natural causes in June last year.
Earlier, an alleged mentally challenged man murdered 10 of his family members with the help of a sharp knife in Sukkur.
The deceased include four children and six women including the suspect’s mother, wife and sister, said Edhi sources.
Neighbours of the unfortunate family came to know of the incident when they knocked the door of the house and nobody opened it in the morning. The suspect remained at home after killing his family members during night while they were asleep.
