“Aurat or Heroine mein farq hota hai”, says Firdous Jamal about Mahira Khan

Recently, Firdous Jamal appeared on a talk show where he clarified his controversial remarks against Mahira Khan by stating, “I don’t have any personal grudges against anyone but there is a difference between a woman and a young heroine”.
When the host of the program Ahmed Ali Butt asked him about his statement against the diva of the Pakistan film industry Mahira Khan, Firdous Jamal said, “personal grudges against anyone nor I am jealous of anyone. Allah has blessed me with a lot of blessings and success. I don’t pass any remarks to any artist on a personal basis. I talk on a technical basis. I have worked in different professions and have an idea about such things”.
He further added, “Whenever I see any artist on television I don’t see them as a viewer I see them as a technician or an expert. I find faults in it when they cast wrong choices for roles in film or drama”.
He then told his definition of the heroine by stating, “there is a concept of the heroine in our minds, someone who is a teenager, 15 to 17 years old, good looking, like a doll. It is a concept that stuck in the minds of the audience”.
Talking about Mahira Khan, veteran actor Firdous Jamal said, “Aurat or heroine mein farq hota hai. She should do some mature roles. It is not her age to perform the role of a heroine. I didn’t mean that she is an old woman but not suitable for a role of a heroine”.
He gave his example that look if I appeared as a hero in any film or drama it will not look good at all.
Previously, Firdous Jamal made an undignified comment against Mahira Khan by saying, “I am sorry to say that Mahira is not heroine stuff. She is not a good actress and not a heroine. She is old; one doesn’t play a heroine at this age but rather the role of a mother”.
