Auction of Nawaz Sharif’s properties, Court issues instructions

Lahore: The accountability court summoned the lawyers for arguments at the next hearing on the petition of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop the auction of properties.
Accountability court judge Asad Ali heard petitions filed by Yousuf Abbas and others seeking stay of auction of Nawaz Sharif’s properties.
In the petitions, it was stated that the inheritance of the properties has been transferred.
Therefore, the court should reconsider its decision. The petitioner further said that the process of auction of properties would be challenged on the return of Nawaz Sharif.
Therefore, the court should issue a restraining order against the auction. Later, the court took action and sought reply from the lawyers on February 4.
Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Punjab had posted notices for the sale of former Nawaz Sharif’s property on the residences, in which it was said that the auction of agricultural lands would be held on November 19.
Board of Revenue had requested the officers of NAB Lahore and NAB Rawalpindi to join the auction. In September, in the Avenfield Apartments case, proceedings were initiated for the recovery of 8 million pounds. The amount of fine imposed on Nawaz Sharif is about Rs 1.85 billion.
