More than two months have passed since streets and main roads in Swat have been shut down because of the increasing snowfall.

The road that goes from Swat to Atror and Gabral Valley has been inaccessible for more than 15 days due to which contacting the valley residents has become difficult.

Residents have taken to the streets in protest against the authorities.

“If the roads are not reopened immediately, it might lead to a food shortage in the valley,” said one of the residents. “The government has not taken any action, even after the snowfall has stopped,” he said.

In the previous week, people throughout the country were suffering due to heavy snowfall.

These areas were also affected by prolonged power and gas outages, and internet service disruption. The provincial government and the authority for disaster management have cautioned against travel.

They said it was extremely dangerous to travel on highways as the roads were becoming icy after heavy snowfall.
