ATC awards death sentence to two motorway rape culprits

An Anti-terrorism court on Saturday awarded death sentence to two culprits — Shafqat and Abid — in Lahore motorway case.

According to the verdict, the culprits were also given a life imprisonment sentence, and slapped with a fine of Rs50,000 each.

During the earlier hearings, the accused Abid Malhi confessed to raping the woman twice, while Shafqat raped her once.

The two men had raped a woman in front of her three children on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway on September 9, 2020.

The judgement was announced by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Hussain Bhatt which came six and a half months after the crime took place.
