At least 138 Pakistanis have died from coronavirus in different countries, Foreign Office of Pakistan said Thursday.
The FO spokeswoman Aisha Farooqui said in a weekly media briefing that the government does not have a verified number of deaths because most countries do not report the nationality of the coronavirus who lost their lives.
“According to one unofficial estimate, a total of 138 Pakistanis or Pakistani origin people in different countries of the world have died due to Covid 19,” she said.
The virus has claimed at least 225 lives in Pakistan so far and the total number of reported cases has jumped to close to 1,100 in the region.
The FO spokeswoman also blamed the Indian government for the country’s maltreatment of Muslims. She said in Indian a “systematic drive” is under way to demonize the Muslim community.
