LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Shehbaz on Monday said that If there was accountability and justice in this country, Chairman CPEC Authority Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa and his family would have been arrested and not PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif.

She said this in response to the arrest of the party chief by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from the Lahore High Court after his bail was not extended.

“Make no mistake. Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested ONLY because he REFUSED to play in the hands of those who wanted to use him against his brother. He preferred standing behind prison bars than to stand against his brother. Shahbaz Sharif, I salute you,” the PML-N vice president wrote in a tweet.

She said you would not be able to save your false and fake mandate even by arresting Shehbaz Sharif. “Whatever decisions are taken by the PML-N delegation led by Shehbaz Sharif in the All Parties Conference (APC), every PML-N worker will remain steadfast on these promises. God willing! Today we are all Shehbaz Sharif,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz said Shehbaz Sharif’s only fault was that he did not leave Nawaz Sharif’s side. He preferred to go to jail but stood by his brother, she said.

“This retaliatory accountability cannot discourage Nawaz Sharif and his associates. The time is not far when the people will be held accountable for this government and those who brought it,” she said.
