Asad Ali Memon, a Pakistani mountaineer, has become the first Asian to summit the Mount Kilimanjaro within a day.
“Alhumdulillah, I became the only Asian & Pakistani to climb Kilimanjaro in less than 24 hours,” said Asad Memon.
According to Asad Ali, it took only 20 hours to him to climb Kilimanjaro and to return to the gate of Africa’s highest mountain.
“After two days of preparation and acclimatisation on Mount Kilimanjaro, Memon descended to the starting point –Umbwe Gate of Mount Kilimanjaroon– on February 14, 2021 morning. The challenge began early morning at 06:00 am on Monday, February 15, 2021,” said the Pakistani Embassy in Tanzania.
Asad Ali took the Umbwe route, which is considered challenging due to its steep ascent. He offered Sajda e Shukar after summitting the mountain. He also pulled out a Pakistani flag there.
Mount Kilimanjaro is 5,895 metres above sea level. Moreover, it is comprised of three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. It is considered to be the highest mountain of Africa.
