ISLAMABAD: An additional district and sessions judge of Islamabad released on Friday non-refundable arrest warrants for television anchor Mubasher Lucman in a criminal complaint lodged against him by Anwar Aziz, father of former minister Daniyal Aziz, for allegedly using slanderous words.
The court also issued arrest warrants for Lucman’s guarantor Rehan Ishfaq as Luqman remained absent in three consecutive court hearings on pre-arrest bail in this matter.
Additional district and sessions judge Sikandar Khan heard a criminal complaint against Lucman filed by Aziz for alleged use of slanderous and contemptuous words.
In a broadcast in 2016 Lucman passed several remarks about Aziz’s personal life.
In response, Aziz filed a criminal complaint under the Pakistan Penal Code against anchorperson seeking action against him.
Nevertheless, when Lucman remained absent for three consecutive days, the judge issued arrest warrants against him and his guarantor for him as well. The court issued the non-bailable arrest warrants for them through the Kohsar police station’s station house office (SHO).
The court put off further proceedings until January 22 and instructed the Kohsar SHO on the date to deliver Lucman. If the warrants were not enforced, the court warned the SHO for legal proceedings.
