ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Friday said that the arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader captain (retd) Safdar Awan was orchestrated by the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, pointing towards Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Zardari, he said the drama was orchestrated by the foster brother and sister.

“The cameraman is going everywhere and making video of arrest of Safdar which is run by a blue-eyed journalist and channel from London. The video maker was a professional man,” Shahbaz Gill said.

The man could be seen making video in all the CCTV footages, he said adding that the video shot by the professional cameraman should be shared with public.

The SAPM said PML-N Vice President Maryam Safdar wanted that her every drama should be accepted. They wanted their every word to be trusted, he said.

He said Maryam woke up every day and spoke lies. She did not tell lie only when she did not speak, he said.

The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader claimed that the drama was orchestrated to seek NRO from the government.

“First they said that Nawaz can’t be treated here then Maryam wanted to go abroad to look after her father,” he said adding that if Maryam could roam freely despite being convicted then every woman kept in jails should be released.

If the government would have pulled the strings of institutions, Safdar could have been arrested in a bigger crime and not in a crime which could be bailed in few hours, he said.

Shahbaz said citizens had no idea what pit they were digging for the country. They wanted full autonomy in doing corruption.

“Until Imran Khan is there, not just as a prime minister, but while in the opposition as well, he would not let them do corruption,” he said.

To a query, he said all journalists including Ali Imran Syed should be released.
