ISLAMABAD: Minister for Economic Affairs, Hammad Azhar on Wednesday said comprehensive arrangements had been made to ensure sufficient production and supply of all essential items in the country.
“Since the country was in lockdown, so there was a dire need to ensure production and supply of daily use essential items across the country,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.
The minister said the list of necessary manufacturers, industry, retailers and services had been prepared in consultations with the provinces. The list of the selected industry would be made public on Wednesday (today) after the meeting of National Coordination Committee, he added.
Hammad Azhar said the industries that were providing raw materials and inputs to these industries would also be kept open.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Zafar Mirza said in adoption of strict prevention measures, the ministry of National Health Services decided to issue two guidelines separately for shops and factories.
He said the objective behind issuing guidelines was to protect the customers and workers at factories and shops from coronavirus.
