APS suo moto notice fixed for hearing in Supreme Court
The tragedy of Army Public School has been fixed for hearing in the Supreme Court.
A two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear the case on August 4. The court issued notices to Attorney General Khalid Javed Khan.
Earlier, former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had taken suo moto notice of the investigation into the APS tragedy. A two-member bench comprising Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan has been constituted to hear the case.
A judicial inquiry report of the tragedy will be discussed during the hearing. Important implementation guidelines are also likely to be issued.
Former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had ordered an inquiry by a senior judge of the Peshawar High Court at the request of the parents of children martyred in Army Public School Peshawar. The report of the commission of inquiry was submitted to the Supreme Court two weeks ago.
It should be noted that in December 2014, terrorists attacked Army Public School Peshawar and killed more than 150 people. Among the martyrs were a large number of innocent students.
