Rising Islamophobia: Another mosque bulldozed in Modi’s India

Local authorities in southern Indian city of Hyderabad have bulldozed a mosque, in another action taken against a Muslim place of worship amid rising Islamophobia.

The municipal authorities of Hyderabad city bulldozed the Khawaja Mehmood mosque in the wee hours in the presence of a police, when the worshipers reached the mosque for the Fajr prayer, they saw the mosque destroyed.

Later, Muslims and various parties staged a fierce protest outside the municipal office, on which the police arrested several protesters.

Police said that the residents around the mosque had lodged a complaint against its construction, but without registering a First Information Report (FIR), municipal authorities demolished the mosque.

The head of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) in India said that the demolished mosque was built 3 years ago where 5 times prayer was offered every day including Friday prayers.

On the other hand, General Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, in a press note, termed the process of destroying the mosque as very sad and intolerable for Muslims.
