Princess Diana was loved by the public for many reasons, including her warmth, her beauty, and her passion for helping others. Although, Diana was married to Prince Charles but she fell in love with a Pakistani heart surgeon, Hasnat Khan.

Ex-wife of Imran Khan and a close friend of Diana, Jemima Khan told the press about Diana’s love affair with Dr.Khan and how she felt about him. She said,

“Diana was madly in love with Hasnat Khan and wanted to marry him, even if that meant living in Pakistan, and that’s one of the reasons why we became friends.”

How did Diana and Hasnat meet?

On September 1995, Diana went to London’s Royal Brompton Hospital to meet her friend’s husband who was recovering from a heart surgery. Dr. Hasnat Khan was assisting in the tripe-bypass surgery at that time. Diana fell in love with him instantly. Her friend, whose husband was in the hospital recalled her saying,

“Isn’t he drop-dead gorgeous?”

The princess could not control over her feelings and visited the hospital every day for three weeks to pursue Khan.

Diana tried every possible way to win him over!

Diana completely immersed herself in Pakistani culture, in an effort to show her respect and love for Hasnat. According to reports, her closet was filled with shalwar kameez, the traditional dress of Pakistani women. For Dr. Khan, Diana made numerous visits to Pakistan to learn about the heritage and culture. For him, Diana considered converting to Islam.

Why did not they get married?

Diana and Hasnat were into a relationship for more than 2 years but could not tie the knot. But, Diana’s former status as a royal princess was not good enough to win over the Khan family’s approval. Diana did two attempts to marry Khan but his parents never approved of her. In an interview, Hasnat father said,

“He is not going to marry her, we are looking for a bride for him. She should be rich, among the upper middle class. She should at least be a Pakistani Muslim girl.”

The end of her love story

As her love affair with the doctor ended, Diana began a new relationship with Dodi Al Fayed. the son of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, are said to have started their relationship soon after in the French Riviera just to make Hasnat jealous, but who knew that this will be the end of Diana’s life?

Soon after vacationing together, Diana and Dodi died in a high-speed car crash on August 31. She was just 36 while Dodi was 42.
